My first experience with the wall was unique. My friend and I (a fellow cruit) took the train from Bamberg. While I was waiting for him to come back out, I offered my help to some guys trying to push start a car. Turns out they were trying to steal the car. Out of no where the Polizei with their very visible machine guns hustled us to the station. As a cruit I was freaked out!! Thanks to my little bit of time in Headstart German classes I was able say Ich druchen das es alles. I know those guys understood english. Long story short, they let me go and nailed the other guys. I did return at a later time with my forty marks though!

I thought the "Wall" was just another bullshit story 'til I went down there with Terry Schulke and Ron Perozzo. I mean there was the "Filmhaus Schoenblick" across from Camp Hof,I guess I was young and clueless- then I went to Amsterdam for 3 days!

Hey, I never went to the Wall or Club 2 but a few of us went by train to Frankfurt to the red light district there. I came back to Bamberg broker and still horny. I learned a big lesson that night. It ain't always what it seems. I had my best experience with the barmaid from King's Inn; saw her for a few months, off and on, after redeploying from the Gulf. She was a doll and damn it, I should have thought about marrying her.

The big event was to take the new troops to the "Wall" in Nurenberg by train, then across from the baunhof. Locally there was the "Club 2" if you didn't want to travel as far.
Some of those guys were regulars every payday.

don't remember the name, but I still can picture his face, maybe first name was Al, short for Alton. Does anyone remember a little hole in the wall called The Pferderstahl, had a horse head on the door, kinda like a chess knight. Pulled my first Bamberg, " I can't walk night there"

OK- Who was the American(ex Military) who helped run Keller's? We used to put up 10 marks each on Sat. nights to get a couple kegs in the park and play American Football on Sundays. Always had a crowd, sometimes we had to run plays to bust up the crowds around our Bier! lots of times we went on Sick Call Mondays - We were beat to CRAP!
