To any who are interested, Eagle Troop was the assigned Troop to Coburg when the wall was dropped. The next day we were "invaded" with no less than a thousand East Germans all driving those little "Trabants" I think they were called. I was on gate duty that day and met a lot of nice people. They hung aroud for a few days and then all just went back home now that they were now back to being unified Germans. I wish I was able to appreciate the moment more. I wish I could be there next month to relive it.

Bean was a mad man! His Korea tales were hilarious.

I vaguely remember a Bean from when I first got there. If I remember correctly, I think he was an E-4 when I got there and got E-5 shortly thereafter. If I'm not mistaken (and as I have said before, those days are extremely foggy for me, so I might be wrong) I think he was a driver for the CO. And I think he was in 1st plt.

Speaking of Ft. Knox and a fellow Kentuckian...Has anyone heard anything from or seen Sgt. Bean from 1st Platoon?
Glad to hear Oscar retired out. He was a pretty good Scout.

I was stationed in Erlangen, Germany with SSG Green 1988-1992. He was in 2-70 AR, I was in 4-70 AR. He is now retired and living near Ft Knox. I called him last Memorial Day......

Welcome Aboard Kevin and Bill!
Kevin....I too served under then Cpt. Martinez, and with SSG. Baker and SSG. Melendez-Cruz. The last I saw of Toby Martinez, he was a LTC and CO of 3d Squadron, 3d ACR at Bliss...That was back in the late 1990's.
Bill....I remember you. We were both in 3d platoon, SSG. Oscar Green was the Scout Section Sergeant, SFC. Harding was the Plt. Sgt./Ldr, until LT. Schinke arrived.

Got to Echo Trp in Feb 82 , was assigned to drive Cpt Berry which didn't last long before I was sent back to 3rd Plt. Got my E-5 in June 84 before I left in Sept , while everyone was going through M1 trans., Wow 6 months of guard duty with nothing but short timers what an end to the tour. Went to Ft. Hood A 1/9 Cav, and seen everyone that left 2/2. Got out in 85, went back in the Guard HHC 3/116th 29th ID, got out again in 93 as E-6

Welcome Kevin!
I too served in the 1980's in Echo Troop. I know Toby Martinez (Retired LTC now at Ft Knox), and Robert Wottlin (now deceased).
I had contact about a year ago with MSG Melendez-Cruz, when he was stationed at Ft Lee. He may still be there. I also remember SSG Baker. I was the Training NCO when he arrived, and prior to me heading to Camp Hof Border Operations.

I am Kevin Cox, I was the E 2/2 unit Armorer from 1984-1985. The Commanders were Toby Martinez and Robert Wottlin. SSG Baker was the supply Sgt. The NBC NCO was SSG Melendez-Cruz. I had some great times in the FRG and some that really sucked. I am glad to see some Echo allumni on here. At times I wonder if it was all a dream. The funny thing is that I have corresponded with Col Molino more in the last year than I ever saw or spoke to him when he was my squadron Commander. Question: Who was the 1SG whos favorite phrase was I dont give a rats ass! I can't remember his name.
