Bruce, I did not mean the 3rd Cav, I meant we had 3 Cav units on the border. sorry.
Bruce Lantz Comment by Bruce Lantz 3 hours ago
Yeah Wayne, I stepped on every bit of the border in the !4th Cav area of responsibility. I don't remember 3 Cav Regt's on the border tho. And my memory fails me as to who had the southern sector at that time.
Not quite your age yet. You have 8 years on me. Ain't old age a "Hoot"?

steve I did not think about it till now, they were there during both of my tours from 59-61 and again from 62-64. I was same troop both tours in Amberg.

Steve, Sorry, the 11th Cav Gyroed back to Germany in 1957 and took over the south sector of the German Check Border and remain there till 1964 when they were relieved. I just checked it out on there history.

I'll have to get in touch with your dad, is he ex-mil or retired if so what unit.

Bruce you must be around my age, getting on up there. I am pushing 78.

Bruce, the 14th had the northern most border at that time and the 11th was the southern border below the 2nd, down by Rotz, if my memory is correct at that time. There was 3 Cav units on the Border, when they restructed all the the Cav units.

Yes, it was long ago. I had already finished 11 years in the service, when he and I were in the old G company/ I troop, satationed in Amberg. Was trying to see if some one along the way, might have run across him, crossing paths in the service.
