Well now that I have time to support this group.
These two photos is the bunch that had a rare opportunity to have a vacation in Spain. It took all day by bus to get to Laret-DiMar (spell?) we stayed there for 5 days with two additional for travel. We were white as a ghost from the cold weather and many training days. By the third day, we were all red as lobsters from the sunny days on the beach.
With all the bar hopping and sleeping late we couldn’t find time to take advantage of the free meals provided by the hotel. So we drank lots of Sangria and filled up with french-fries from the local venders on the streets. As we bar hopped, we would get dragged in by sellers on the streets offering free first drinks and by the time you were passed five bars we were to drunk to do anything then sleep or chase girls on the beach.
It was a great time for all of us, to get away from the cold, hard work and plain hardship. To not be told anything or be asked to do guard duty, just play and drink.

That is why it was called religious retreat, an old term for those needing R&R.

I know of some who also went to England, the Alps, Netherlands and other places.
I would have done others trips but when those trips were offered, I didn’t have the money or time to see more of Europe.
Now, I am so glad that I was able to do at least one.
