Yup, me too. We were too similar. We both like to drink & take our clothes off- it didn't seem to matter who were with at the time. We were up in 3/11 ACR sector when I went to ANCOC at Knox and left her there. Gross tactical error on both our parts. We stuck it out until we PCS'd back to Lewis. I went to Desert Storm (w/ 2/4 Cav), and upon my return people were telling me what great parties she had. Strike 2! I went to Yakima for a few weeks and when I came back I found out that she & a girl friend had "overnight guests". The guests? One of my troopers, and a mortarman. At least my scout hooked up with the other bimbo & had the balls to tell me about it. Strike 3!!!! As for the ex- wife? I passed the hand receipt to a different mortarman. The only thing it cost me was some leather furniture and my dignity. At last contact she was at Polk teaching school, and married to the mortarman. You can have Ft. Polk and you can have my wife- I've had them both and they aint that good!

Hey guys, join the club. Married one in 89 right before being shipped back to Ft Lewis. Lasted two years, which I believe is exactly what was need to get citizenship.
She was most unhappy when I left the security of the military (read paycheck) and left me for an active duty nasty guard guy. No sweat though amicable parting and thank god no kids to pay for.
She's got two kids now and last I spoke with her was stuck in Ft. Polk so the joke is on her.
I do miss the german food and beer though......

3/2 ACR Amberg as well. Married in 1992 at the Amberg Rathaus and the church service was is Pursruck...north of Amberg, just south of Hirshau area. Married for 12 years. Yes that is over the 10 year mark where she gets half of the retirement, but wait theres more! Luckily for me, and you don't say that too often in a divorce, we were given a house by her parents which we had renovated. It sat on a few acres of land plus her parents lived upsatirs. As in the state of Texas and Bavaria, we were BOTH intitled to HALF. She got to keep the house and land, I got to keep my retirement pay! We have twin boys, and the child support will stop this August.

We married in April 1990. CPT Martin and SSG Tim Purdy were at the wedding in Auerbach... Built her a house there and stayed there till 1997. Ich hatte die schnause voll! I couldn't stand Germany anymore after 10 years there. When I was transferred to Texas she stated she wasn't going. End of marriage. 'My son is coming for a visit at the end of March. Trying to convince him to come live here and go to college here after he finishes his apprenticeship there. No matter how the job markets is here it's better here.

I did. I was ETSing from Amberg in Feb 88 so I paid for the Darling Denmark package over in the travel office. 1 week in Denmark and on the last day there, you went before the mayor of whatever location you picked for the ceremony. We were married in October '87. She joined me in New York after I out-processed from the Army. I went back active-duty in Nov '89 stationed at Knox. Assigned back to Germany (Bindlach) in Dec 90 and deployed with C Trp. She was 7 months pregnant. Came home to her and my newborn son. Left Bindlach in '92 and was stationed at Ft Lewis. She was pregnant again. My second son was born at Ft Lewis and I ETS'd in Dec '93. Came back to NY and we divorced in '98. She stayed here. She kept her German citizenship, works, has a baby with her guy and bought a house together. Her brother comes over here frequently, and her mother has come once and loved it. I visited Amberg in Aug '06 and stayed with her mother--who I hadn't seen since '92. Her family still treats me like one of their own. So my experience turned out not too bad. We get along well--because of our boys and she's settled here--lives about 20 min from my house.

3/2 ACR Amberg. Married the first one lasted 17 years. Could eat off the floor, and bitch and complain with the best of them. Still see her since our daughter lives in the top half of her house in Amberg. The second one turned out to be the wicked witch of Bavaria and ran like heel from that one in less than 2 years. Now married HAPPILY to a girl from my home town that I grew up with (back in the States, Pottsville Pa.) I work in Vilseck/Grafenwoehr as a Training Aids, Devices and Simulator Manager and my Wife works as a Nurse at the Vilseck Clinic taking care of the Soldiers and Family members of the 2nd SCR. Oh by the way I lost everything I owened in both times.
