Thank You For Your Service!
Dear David,
Military Sunrise
Greetings from your association.  I am Chris Golden the recently appointed Executive Director of the 2d Cavalry Association.

And this is our monthly (when time allows) newsletter.  In it we hope to keep you informed of the activities going on both in the Association and the active Regiment. Our purpose is not to take away from the Thoroughbred (which is on the way as we speak) but to augment it with useful current information that you can use now.

And just what have we been up to?  Well, we have been actively looking for a few good students to help with college expenses, getting the Thoroughbred published, supporting a new and highly successful social networking site (see links below left).  In addition we are putting the final touches on the Reunion to be held on 12-14 November in Vienna, VA, supporting the Regiment as it gets ready to hold the Regiments Birthday Party (15 May in Amberg), and promoting the 65th Anniversary of the Regiments participation in the Liberation of Luneville in France (18-20 September).  In addition, on 1 May the Regiment and the Association will be represented at a ceremony commemorating the Lipizzaner rescue.

And in our spare time we are facilitating a very active membership drive while also putting together a new Association Chapter in Vilseck.  The latter under the leadership of Steve Wesnoski - our man on the ground in Vilseck.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly we continue to support those casualties that are STILL in Army medical facilities here in the US.  My admiration and respect goes out to Sam Palmer who leads this operation. There is no better mission for this Association than to care for our wounded and their families.

We will always be leaning forward in the saddle. So, lets hit the leather. It is going to be a great ride!
Thoroughbred - On the Way, Wait!

The latest edition of the Thoroughbred is on the presses at this very moment.  Our non-internet connected members will be seeing their copy shortly. And for the folks who take delivery by email watch for your copy in the very near future.  Ned Devereux is doing an outstanding job as reporter, publisher and editor-in-chief.  And thanks to Tom Stewart for shepherding the paper through the presses and into the mail.

The social gathering site which has long been home to an active group of 2d Cavalrymen migrated to a new home on the web.  The new site is enjoying an even livelier interaction with our alumni and active soldiers.
Check in at the site to see what is happening in our Community. (Click on "Social Gathering Site" in the Quick Links section of this newsletter.) Thanks to Rob Russell and all the administrators for your enthusiastic support and commitment to the 2d Cavalry Community.
