Just read your comments below about LT, he was a great LT and Cav to the core. May he rest in peace and we'll all meet you again at the Fiddler's Green
Got to Echo Trp in Feb 82 , was assigned to drive Cpt Berry which didn't last long before I was sent back to 3rd Plt. Got my E-5 in June 84 before I left in Sept , while everyone was going through M1 trans., Wow 6 months of guard duty with nothing...
Many of us experienced a unique part of history patrolling the East German & Czechoslovakian Borders during the Cold war. Share those stories here with those who served on the border.
Tell us a little about your cav days and some of your buddies!
Lots of good times, & lots of shitty ones too, Remember Novak's black room in 3rd plt, some good times had in downtown Bamberg , & on the Border at Hof, Laying in the snow for hours on GSR guard duty , lol
Bill,
Back in 2002,I ran into Novak in this really small middle of nowhere town in South Dakota. He was doing ok. Had just bought a small piece of land and put up a modular home there.
I went out west to Montana and South Dakota for a couple of years back in 2002 to do some honest to God cowboyin', and would have never in a million years have expected to see anyone from the 2d ACR, much less someone from 3d Herd, E 2/2 ACR!
It was pretty cool to run into Novak....Winner, South Dakota is the name of the town.
Toujours Pret Bill,
Welcome to the new DragoonBase, the new Base has plenty of newer features, lots of sub-groups,(ie,F-Trp,Amberg,Medics,etc.) and links for 2nd Cav News and History.
Robb Russell has posted some tips for navigating the site (ie,photos, links, ect) in the Forum.
Make sure you stop by and read the latest Tacoma Dave ‘Triva Quiz’, learn some 2nd Cav history and you can even win a kool prize.
If you need any help, you can contact Robb, or any of the 5 admins listed at the top of the page, or just yell out, another member may be able to help you.
And our only wish, ‘Keep it clean’, use our Real names/with Pictures(pix from back in the day, work best for searching for Brothers, but any picture will do).
And that you please tell all your friends about the new DragoonBase.
Thanks again for joining Dragoon Base, and for your service to our great country,
Jesse Kelley
