Tell us a little about you now.
I'm older that I ever expected to be. I own my own business. Beck's Wildlife Removal. I trap, remove and exclude unwanted critters from homes and businesses. Been doing that for going on 9 years. Before that, mostly Appliance repair and a few years in the security biz. I've been a music director at a few churches and play guitar. Accoustic only. Back on the Rock some called me J.D. because I played and sang John Denver songs a lot. Still do.

Guten Tag Gene,
Thanks. The Rock was unique to say the least. A single squadron located in the middle of no-where. A four lane bowling center, coupled with a small movie theatre/px/snack bar/gym that entertained roughly 750 soldiers. Two clubs, one located on each side near the Christensen Barracks front gate entrance, a nothing first aid center and mess hall. Smallest base I was assigned to. I tolerated it like those before and after me. I had some wonderful times but the trips to Graf, the cold/wet field duty, etc. made me really appreciate my pcs to Ft. Knox. I did have some funny experieces. let me share one. I was a patrol leader at Camp Gates. I was out on OP 42 on the border one night and it was so cold and windy no one wanted to walk around outside on guard. One of the guys, needed to go to the outhouse. We were all young and dumb and tlelling ghost stories. The stories got so good and terrifying that the kid that needed to use the toilet did not want to go out. Now if you have ever been on OP 42, you know how dark it can get.Iit was winter, slippery, cold wet, and again dark on a moonless snowy night. Well, the cherry E-2 wanted a flashlight. About two or three minutes after he left, everyone heard yells and screams outside the observation post. The kid was running, falling, tripping, with pants down yelling bloody murder. Grabbing M-16's, we hurried outside to find a Zoll with his cape blowing in the wind. He was accompanied by a german shepard, I guess the kid thought Dracula came to get him. Talk about falling down in the snow. I laughed until my insides hurt. Thanks for the e-mail. Ken

Thank you Gene and do look forward to meet new and old friends. Remember CPT Mike Lute, he is a LTG and was President Bush "War Czar". I attended last November 2nd ACR Reunion several of the old crew were there also.

Haven't seen it, but I gave her a crapload of info and contacts. Should be some books and a documentary or two coming out on the subject also, from different sources.

Thank you, Gene. I am afraid I did not take so many of Bindlach, because 'life' took over and our friends and family took us everywhere and needed us everywhere. However, I have a few pics from the rock and the Eremitage. Bayreuth has changed. It became a modern city. I purchased curtains for my windows in TX - the interior decorations in my friends' homes are amazingly beautiful and modern.
So I took, what would fit into our suitcases, with me! -- Yesterday we finally crashed from exhaustion. 3 weeks on the go was a little much. LOL - take care - Herlinde
