J.W.,
For the life of me I cannot remember what ships I traveled on. Within the past year I received my complete military records from St Louis. They include everything except what the ship's names were....travel dates, etc.
If you were ever to Gates we may have crossed paths there. The medic also operated the Px there.

J.W.,
Welcome to another from the cold war. Would be happy to have you join us in the Oldtimers. It seems like you were in Amberg just before and just after me.

I have not been back to Amberg. I left in 64 for Fort Knox to teach Recon but they caught my hearing lost, changed my profile back to my non-combat of Photo Chief, I took over the post photo Facility till 67 when I went back to Germany, as the photo chief of the 3 Inf Div. Could not get promoted so I requested a transfer, got a interview 2 days later with Stars & Stripes, Hq Europe. They flew my orders down to my unit the same day, my family and I moved 2 days later to Darmstadt Stripes Hdq. I took over as the NCOIC with the photo division till I retired 1 Jan 1969. I served 5 tours in Germany and 1 in Korea 1953-1954. Loved the service, but with 8 years in grade an a frozen field it was time to retire, I had 21 years & 6 days and retired at the age of 36. I had entered the service at 15 in the guard and regular Army at 16 with a direct assignment to the US Constabulary in Germany.

Toujours Pret JW,
Welcome to the new DragoonBase, the new Base has plenty of newer features, lots of sub-groups,(ie,F-Trp,Amberg,Medics,etc.) and links for 2nd Cav News and History.
Robb Russell has posted some tips for navigating the site (ie,photos, links, ect) in the Forum.
Make sure you stop by and read the latest Tacoma Dave ‘Triva Quiz’, learn some 2nd Cav history and you can even win a kool prize.
If you need any help, you can contact Robb, or any of the 5 admins listed at the top of the page, or just yell out, another member may be able to help you.
And our only wish, ‘Keep it clean’, use our Real names/with Pictures(pix from back in the day, work best for searching for Brothers, but any picture will do).
And that you please tell all your friends about the new DragoonBase.

Thanks again for joining Dragoon Base, and for your service to our great country,
Jesse Kelley
