Since we're showing pics of dad. My dad is on the right. This was 1951 aboard LST Troop Carrier. This was on their way home, they had just left San Clemente Island. The man on the left is his friend Robert Martin and they still write to each other...

He built roads and bridges when he wasn't busy being a Marine. He drove a bulldozer and/or pulled a grader and built pontoon bridges.

However, I don't think those hills were as bad as the ones we had to run up and down at Fort Knox during AIT. Heartbreak, Agony and Misery I believe they were named. Mike

Charles Veit said… - Jim I dont remember Sgt Achuela(spelling??) . I remember SFC Jones, 1SG Sworn, the other Sgt Jones who played baseball all the time, Sgt Bergen, Klink, Mills, White and a few others.
My gunner was a Corporal, kinda short, skinny , and I think had red hair. Other than that its all kind of faded.

I was sationed in Amberg.with How Co 3RD Bat.I was in Amberg from 58-60. I was a Forward Observer.We had 3 Battalions.Bindlach, Bayreuth and Amberg.I have done some work in Ada several times.I am an electrical contractor.
