Any buddy know where to find these camps on Google earth? I know they are around Rotz and Regan but can"t find them. Or are they gone?

I did permanent medic duty at doth camps off and on in 80 and 81. Rotz was a old camp with block buildings. When you came into Rotz you came in gate and turned right in to the motor pool. Rotz was on top of the hill. Camp May was a newer post with...

Many of us experienced a unique part of history patrolling the East German & Czechoslovakian Borders during the Cold war. Share those stories here with those who served on the border.

Good to hear from you Mark. I don't know about Evans but Stan Vance got transferred to Munich and married a soldier (female) that had been stationed in Heidelberg with 1st PersCom. He got out after his enlistment and they moved to Placentia California where they have a son and a daughter and a couple of grandkids. I haven't seen them in a few years. Yea, if you have a couple of pictures of us, please do foward them. I lost all of mine in transit back to the states.

Toujours Pret Mark,
Welcome to the new DragoonBase, the new Base has plenty of newer features, lots of sub-groups,(ie,F-Trp,Amberg,Medics,etc.) and links for 2nd Cav News and History.
Robb Russell has posted some tips for navigating the site (ie,photos, links, ect) in the Forum.
Make sure you stop by and read the latest Tacoma Dave ‘Triva Quiz’, learn some 2nd Cav history and you can even win a kool prize.
If you need any help, you can contact Robb, or any of the 5 admins listed at the top of the page, or just yell out, another member may be able to help you.
And our only wish, ‘Keep it clean’, use our Real names/with Pictures(pix from back in the day, work best for searching for Brothers, but any picture will do).
And that you please tell all your friends about the new DragoonBase.

Thanks again for joining Dragoon Base, and for your service to our great country,
Jesse Kelley

Tell us a little about your cav days and some of your buddies!
Young dumb kid in Germany. Grew up a little, drank a lot of beer, seen the sites and met a lot of good people.
Spent most of my time at Amberg with may be a year split between camps May and Rotz as permanent party medic. The camps were pretty boring time but easy job. Amberg was more work, mostly trying to stay out of site and mind.
And seeing the country driving a M113a(?) was a lot of fun. After hours were spent at the Roma, Chicky House by traffic circle, Chinese Restaurant at the bottom of the hill and many more Guesthouse downtown.
Buddies: Steve, Sam(Pain), Randy, Vance, Shepard, Stubs, Adams, Harrison, Russel, Lutes, Hayward, White, Evans and more.
Tell us a little about you now.
I now drive 18 wheeler and see the country.
