I don't remember if this was around the same time that a bunch of writers came up to the border and had a tour. Reporters from the NY Times and others were in the group. We actually had Redcatcher fly through and a Hind came out to play. This was ...
I remember this. There were pics of guys in white camo. This was a big thing at the time. I can't remember where I saw the pics, but I remember there was a lot of them. I'll have to do some digging.
Does anyone remember the print of "The Freedom Train" ? It was a print of some cav guys on patrol and a train coming across the border when the borders opened up. I had this print, but I lost it in a fire.
Many of us experienced a unique part of history patrolling the East German & Czechoslovakian Borders during the Cold war. Share those stories here with those who served on the border.
Outstanding story Pete! Awhile back I bought a 2nd Cavalry commemorative plate off of eBay. It had been presented to the Mayor of Luneville by 1st Squadron in 1991, and was signed by the officers and their wives on the back. I recently sent it to Tom Molino, President of the 2nd Cavalry Association, to either donate to our museum or take back to Luneville.
Holy crap! SSG Fahrenkrug!
I was also in the platoon. Me and Hernandez were room mates. I was under SSG Wooten until he left then I worked for SSG Adams and SGT Hennerty. Hey, do you remember where Daniels went when he ETSed?
Doing great, hope you are doing the same. My son was in 82D from 2000-2005 and deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. He is home now and going to college on the GI Bill. Tommy
