Hello Rodney, glad to hear from another Pond Barracks tropper. The picture is of the building facing the parade grounds. When I was there the right side of HHT had a little parking area and a wash rack. The far side (left)had the little sandwich shack going into the motor pool. That was back in 69-71.Back then the Medics wre on the 3RD floor with the cooks.Redeye was on the first floor (sleeping ) with our Redeye room in the basement.I was in the barracks for awhile then I went home on leave to get married and my wife came back with me.We lived for awhile downtown and in the town of Gialoh. It was down the street as you would walk out pass the front gate on your left.like behind the motor pool.My wife and I went back in 2001&2002.Next year might be another Germany vacation.
Toujours Pret James,
Welcome to the new DragoonBase, the new Base has plenty of newer features, lots of sub-groups,(ie,F-Trp,Amberg,Medics,etc.) and links for 2nd Cav News and History.
Robb Russell has posted some tips for navigating the site (ie,photos, links, ect) in the Forum.
Make sure you stop by and read the latest Tacoma Dave ‘Triva Quiz’, learn some 2nd Cav history and you can even win a kool prize.
If you need any help, you can contact Robb, or any of the 5 admins listed at the top of the page, or just yell out, another member may be able to help you.
And our only wish, ‘Keep it clean’, use our Real names/with Pictures(pix from back in the day, work best for searching for Brothers, but any picture will do).
And that you please tell all your friends about the new DragoonBase.
Thanks again for joining Dragoon Base, and for your service to our great country,
Jesse Kelley

awesome experience!!! 3rd Floor MEDICS rocked!!! Arrived in Germany as an E-2 private......learned alot about the TRACK vehicles(ambulances)......also the 5 Ton .... and the HUMMER was just rec'd in 1988. I drove the LT and SFC around during REFORGER...... early morning PT with many many miles of running in/around Amberg..... Learned to SKI on many trips to Austria. We would usually walk to town(amberg) and then ride the TAXI back to post late at night. Learned how to ride the TRAIN to Nuremburg. Rotated on to Camp May and Camp Reed a few times. I remember doing SICK CALL all by myself. Remember ALERTS in the middle of the night and PISS tests were a frequent thing as I remember it. Where are these guys today??? SFC Austin(vietnam vet) - 1LT Conforti - SSG Haiby - Michael Roth, Thomas Ryan, Burgeon, Tim Tyrell......
