My Father has said almost nothing about Korea. I know his company was left up on a hilltop when the Chinese came across the Yalu,and they has to fight their way back,leaving their dead and seriously wounded.He says more about Viet Nam but not much.
What about those Baby Blue Berets UN forces wear-Sooo intimidating!
Black is for standard Army units, Maroon for Airborne,Tan for Rangers ans SF still has Green berets.
They look really sharp,but are impractical and uncomfortable in hot weather,and they don't keep the sun out of your eyes.
Congress did away with all Berets in '78.It was a HUGE thing here in NC,because of Ft. Bragg, there was a Post-wide Burial Ceremony. For a while I thought they were going to storm Washington.
Berets went out about 3 months before I got to Bamberg,although we still had to drink a liter out of one to be a "Real Trooper" Khakis were also phased out, to me they were the sharpest uniform we had.That Green Crap they have now has no panache.
Got my German Jump Boots, used a whole can of Mink Oil on them. Waterproofed, never had to use rubber.over shoes or those friggin' Mickey Mouse Boots. I bought 2 more pairs of soles,had them til 93, about the best $35 I spent.
And I should add Some of the Best Drinkers and Brawlers(Especially after Border,Capstone followed by Graf!) I've ever raised a Brew with!

Yea I was cuffed and hauled in once for assualt and battery on an MP. In a club in Bayreuth a guy talked garbage to me and I gave him whats fer. Did not know he was an MP. My commander dismissed it.
