I also heard the same story. Supposedly that ramp was the primary vehicle access that went down to the underground motor pool under the field. Any accesses like gates (I saw one of gates) to personnel tunnels to the pool were booby-trapped. In WWI...

Hey David. I still share this story of “contact with the future” with people from time to time. We were at the top of the hill in a defensive position waiting for new maneuver orders, when we heard that thing come out of the woods and were it fin...

Tell us a little about your cav days and some of your buddies!
It was hard work. In places like Hof, Graf, Honftls., Scout-out, Capstone, Re-forger and all the other tid-bit field exercises. And to think I volunteered to do stuff like help the tankers qualify in their new M60-A3 as a loader, help the mortar-men qualify for Horse artillery as I prepared the rounds for the team. During my 6 months as a jeep driver, keeping up with Capt. Horton has he would charge ahead 4am till….. as he would volunteer Eagle troop for everything under the sun to keep us on our toes and combat ready.
Too much guard duty at the ammo dump and way too much beer during the little time we had off.
Looking back now, I wouldn't change a thing or the experience I had with friends and enemies. (No way would I have said that then) Most to lose a friend, a tank driver, Sp-4 Salsbury during one of those cold and arduous war games we played.
Tell us a little about you now.
I started in Austin Tx. after processing out of Fort Hood as a manual drafter in 1984 with the education moneys I saved up in the service. Later worked my way out of the field as a surveyor and trained myself in AutoCad and now work for a Civil Engineering firm here in Michigan preparing and designing plans for site layout and utilities using Suv/AutoCad, supporting the surveyors using coordinates/GPS for staking and construction layout. Been doing this particular work for about 16 yrs now.
name a few buddies you served with that you would like to find you!
Nicknames and or spelling is my best;
Tommy McCullen, Gephart, Evenick, Gurtis, Big Red, Woody Austin, Danny Carr.
More to come, have to shake the cob-webs.

Tom, Take a look at the photos in my profile. I found one of you and Paul Bolduc when we were in Hohenfels and they were field testing the M1 tank. Man how time goes by.....

Tom,
I too was in third Platoon from 1980 until I made E-5 in Feb 1982 when I went to the Training Room and worked for 1SG Hickey. Some of the names you mentioned as looking to find sure back some memories. I spent a total of 5 years in 2/2 ACR, going to Camp Hof in June of 1983 until Nov 1985. It was the best time I spent in uniform.

Toujours Pret Tom,
Welcome to the new DragoonBase, the site has plenty of newer features, lots of sub-groups,(ie,F Trp,Amberg,CampHof,etc.) and links for 2nd Cav News and History. Robb Russell has posted some tips for navigating the site(ie,photos,ect) in the Forum. And his only wish that ‘We keep it clean’, and you tell all your friends about the new DragoonBase.

Thanks Again for joining,
