Sure enough William, I'll make you a copy. Now the preasure is on me. I'll have to go up to the attic and look through all the reel to reels I have up there, but I'll find it and pass it over to digital and as soon as I have it of course I'll send you a copy.
Some of the reels are in bad shape because of the time. I'll have to look for a reel to reel player.. I think I have one up in the attic too. I'll have to oil it and get it going cause the reels are sensitive and they brake real easy. I did some transfering of some older reels and I had to stop cause the machine was tearing the tapes. I'll experiement and work from there.
I think besides Daniel and I singing, Steve Long can be heard making some comments as he played chess with someone. These tapes are about 36 years old so I can't make out who else does any talking.. maybe you can.

O.k. give me some time on this.

One more thing I forgot to mention. While at the Rock or maybe someother place, Dan and I recorded some songs we played. I had bought a reel to reel and we recorded about an hour of songs. Dan loved to sing and I would just follow him with my guitar. Oh, by the way, I think that guitar Long is holding was mine. Dan helped me buy that guitar so that I could accompany him when he sang and jammed.
The recordings I have are about an hour and a half long. I have them in the attic somewhere. I´ll have to get them out and transfer them to digital.. I have a program that does that. Only thing is that we used a lot of words that I don´t use anymore.. the "f--k" word used alot, but then there was no mal intent.
O.k. that is all for now.. Ray g.

William, this is Ray. I've been looking at the comments with Don Freeman and little by little things are falling into place. I could not remember the name of the Sargent that is pictured there at Camp Pitman. That is Sargent Lee, right? I remember him very well, I just could not remember his name. One time we were doing guard duty at the ammo dump and Daniel Counter was at the entrance smoking a cigaret. Here comes Sgt. Lee and his mouth fell when he saw Dan smoking. He took the cigarret from his mouth and threw it on the ground and told Dan; "How many times do I have to tell you not to smoke here"? Dan, with his Louisiana draw replied; "O sarg, about a thousand times". He could have been given an article 15 or worst, but Sgt. Lee, though tough, was very merciful with Dan.
I was hoping that you would post a picture of John Long. The other day I was looking at your pictures where you note that one of the guys there is Long, at that moment, I realized, yea, that´s Long alright. For some reason I pictured him a little more chubby cause in that picture he looks thinner than what I remember of him. We used to play chess alot and I could never beat him. He had that Texas accent if I remember right but I don´t know if he was from there. I wish he and Dan could join this site so we can remember those days.
One more thing. Some of the pictures I have from the rock and from Camp Pitman, might have been taken with the same camera that some of the pictures you posted on this site. I remember sending some of the pictures to my brother with some contraband between the pictures and the hard back. Remember? Hahahaha, I don´t think they will go after us.. its been a long time.
Anyway, hope to hear from you when you have time. Your friend in Mexico, Ray g.

William, thanks for the reply. The reason I asked about John Lenz is that he and I and another guy he knew went to basic (Fort Campbell) AIT (Fort Knox) in the same platoon. We all shipped to Germany on the same flight. When we got to the repl. depot Lenz and I were assigned the 1/2 Cav. and Dan got sent to the 1/14 Cav which would later become the 1/11Cav. I looked at the troop photo with a magnifing glass and the best I could make out is that Lenz is in the bottom row. Check out the pics on my profile page. Maybe you can see some familiar sights. Thanks again, Mike

William, welcome aboard. I was across the way in B Troop the same time. Do you remember a guy named Jon Lenz? He and I arrived on the Rock on the same bus. He was a scout assigned to A Troop and I went to B Troop in Dec. 1971.

Hey guy, you finally showed up. If you go to me page, you will see that I posted some of your pictures from the old website. Hope you don't mind. One trooper who was there till 69 wanted to know if the duec and a half was still there, I posted one of your pictures. He said he drove it from Graf I think and he also restored the Sherman tank.
Anyway, I'm glad you're on cause you are the only one from A troop. Since coming on I have remembered the names of other guys, but everything is still fuzzy.

Toujours Pret Willliam,
Welcome to the new DragoonBase, the new Base has plenty of newer features, lots of sub-groups,(ie,F-Trp,Amberg,Medics,etc.) and links for 2nd Cav News and History.
Robb Russell has posted some tips for navigating the site (ie,photos, links, ect) in the Forum.
Make sure you stop by and read the latest Tacoma Dave ‘Triva Quiz’, learn some 2nd Cav history and you can even win a kool prize.
If you need any help, you can contact Robb, or any of the 5 admins listed at the top of the page, or just yell out, another member may be able to help you.
And our only wish, ‘Keep it clean’, use our Real names/with Pictures (pix from back in the day, work best for searching for Brothers, but any picture will do. Tags also work great for searching).
And please tell all your friends about the new DragoonBase.

Thanks again for joining Dragoon Base, and for your service to our great country,
Jesse Kelley
