Father Joe Fessio
During late 71 thru Sep 74 (when I returned stateside) our Catholic priest at Amberg was Fr. Joseph Fessio, a Jesuit priest getting his PhD in Theology in Regensberg. Fr. Joe was VERY competitve and played basketball with young enlisted troopers. He also refused to stay in the BOQ and insisted on staying in the barracks. His masses were very non-traditional and the number of attendees grew the entire period we were there. What you may not know was that Fr. Joe's faculty adviser at the Univ of Regensberg was a Bishop Ratzinger, who was later Cardinal Ratzinger, and now is Pope Benedict!
