Connecting the Troopers of Today with the Veterans of Yesterday.

I don't know how many people out there live in NY but I just recently found out that if you are a cold war vet you can go to you're town assessor with a copy of you're dd214 or card from the VA and you will get a tax break it is a new program that is 2 years old.
Also if anyone lives in Orange county in NY go to the government center in Goshen and show them the same id you will get a id card saying you are a VET and will get discounts at over 140 stores in the county including home depot, lowes, mineke and lots of local stores also.

I got out of the Army in 1971. For me this tax break started the year after the war in Viet Nam ended.Back then it was supposed to be good for only 10 years but they made it life time.It saves me 15% off the county tax bill, around 250-300 dollars a year. For me it's 15% because I was in Germany for combat vets that were in Nam it is 20%.

New Jersey has had this for many years. I don't know how it works in NY, but here you get $250 off your property tax bill.... and it certainly is welcome as we have the highest rate in the US.
