Dave, Seems like lately I'm the messenger for fallen comrades. Today, unfortunately I have two more who are now in Fiddler's Green:

Former B Troop Commaner, CPT Joseph Zuban passed away on 18 October 2009 at the age of 90. Joe served from 1940 to 1961, he received a battle field commission during the Korean War. He is survived by wife of 54 years, Anneliese; they had no childern. He will be buried per his wish in Arlington National Cemetary on 30 November 2009.

Former C Troop First Sergeant and retired Sergeant Major Leroy "Lee" Olivarez. I received this information from former HHT, 1/2 ACR First Sargeant Otto Zenker per telehone on Sunday. I believe he was last residing in Kileen, Texas.

Dave please post this for me and let Ned know about Lee Olivarez, I beleive at one point they were both in the S-3 Shop. Thanks, Top Miller

Thanks Dave. I guess I'm surprised to hear from a Charlie alum so quickly. Was SFC Irvin Lyon still there? I don't know about you, but I learned so much in that 1 year and experiences that have served me so well ever since.

Yeah Dave, we tried to anyhow, they didn't like it when we called their cords "periwinkle blue". Any way, they were all jealous of the spurns and stetsons, and their pride and tradition made no comparison to what we "old 2 Cav guys" had.
Sure miss it.

Dave, Just attended funeral for a fallen comrade from the 1st Sqdn, CSM (Ret) Charles "Chuck" M. Rawlings passed away on 7 Oct. 2009 of cancer, his funeral was today in the town of Streitau between the town of Gefrees and Stammbach. For the old border legionaires it was our route from Christensen Barracks to Hof. He is survived by his wife Marianne and their two boys Millard and Thomas, his one surviving brother Scott attended the funeral, he resides in KY. A Honor Guard and Survival Affiars Officer were present from the Strykers in Vilseck. Plus The VFW from Grafenwoehr where Chuck was lifetime member. He was 73 years old and the 1st time he served in Bindlach was from 1959 to sometimetime in middle sixties. He was long time friend not only as a soldier and later as DA Civilian in Bindlach and Grafenwoehr. Please add to Fiddlers Green. Top Miller

Not that I have noticed. Did you? I haven't read it yet. Right now it is in my study (bathroom) and I will read it when the mood hits me. The author is Karen Jensen.

I went to Ft Polk one time. I went to 4th Squadron. They had a mini museum in the HQs building. It had nothing in it about Germany or Desert Shield/Storm. I was like 4th Sqdn started up during Prime Chance with 58Ds. I donated a set of chocalate chips, pro mask, LBE, boots, boonie hat, etc and a bunch of 8x10 photos. i dont know if they ever put it all up.
