You can get a Schutzenschnur here:

Howdy Ed! I was down at the other end of the Rock in C Troop from 75-79! I'm sure we passed each other at some time. Welcome to the base.
You try ebay for a replacement Schutzenschnur? Some military memorabilia shops may have them also. If phonies can buy a Medal of Honor or Silver Star I'm sure you can find a Schutzenschnur.
Hi Ed,
I see Mike beat me to it. Yes, they are called the Schutzenshnur. Got chosen to qualify for one when I was in the MP's. Was laying on the range screwing around with my handcuffs, waiting for my turn to shoot. Put them on one wrist, when my buddy next to me reached over and squeezed them on extremely tight so they were cutting into my wrist. Couldn't get 'em off! Key wouldn't work because the inside mechanism had broken.
Had to leave the range and ride two hours back to the base in the back of a deuce and a half. Spent the rest of the day and night down at the motor pool cutting them off with a hacksaw. Not fun!!
The Bundeswehr Weapons Qualification Lanyard is called the Schutzenschnur....available in Bronze, Siver and Gold depending on the sobriety of the shooter at the time. Everytime I tried to get one our brethren in the Bundeswehr were more interested in drinking and then shooting. And now you have the rst of the story.
Right...Willow Tree Cafe was the name of the place. I had Schweinehaxe as big as a Virginia ham. Can't wait for my next business trip to Orlando. German food at Willow Tree and World of Beer on University. Who needs Disney World with all that!???
Ed,
Glad to have you with us. Got a great bunch of guys here. Join in whenever you like.

Welcome to Dragoon Base, Edward. I was just down the road in C Troop 1974-75.
Maybe you remember George Crump. He was in D Company about your time, then went to HHT. He was a tank commander (E-6), then platoon sergeant and company motor sergeant (E-7) before becoming squadron motor sergeant (E-7) and squadron maintenance tech (WO-1).
Toujours Pret Edward
