Tell us a little about your cav days.
I don't like to think about the desert. I still remember the musty moldy smell of the sand (Kuwait and Iraq), the greasy film from the oil fires, going over the birms and the curled up black lumps that were once people. I still remember the brief before going over the birm when the told us that we were the tip of the spear and had a 70% acceptable casualtiy rate. I can still see the kids running up for the MRE boxes we would throw them and how they had nothing, and then the BBC reports of how Saddam would kill old men and young boys in the cities for not fighting. I think if I did combat after I did peacetime servcie rather than before I would have stayed in. Took me a long time to forget that so I will focus on my days at Ft. Lewis. After ODS when I was at Ft. Lewis I mostly trained at NTC and Yakima desert. My best friends were Griffiths (Griff), Stewart (Stuz the regimental driver for Col. Molino), Sosa, Mueller (dude was a fanatical hockey player) and Sgt. Gagle. The Cav rocked and I still miss it. I liked the deployments (especially when faced with the Ranger battalion down the street) and Fit to Fight. Had a good team and I miss them.
Tell us a little about you now.
Married with kids. When back to school and got my BA in Economics and my MS in Management as well as other certifications. Most of my training is in programming, data mining and mathematical modeling. Spent most of my career as an internal consultant to senior managers and exectuives for large scale supply chain technologies involving Oracle, DB2, and SQL Enterprise based systems, RFID / AIDC architectures, as well forcasting / modeling / BI (business intelligence) systems. Currently responsible for a SOX compliant system with 3,300+ users.
Name a few buddies you served with that you would like to find.
I forgot the first names as I always called them by their last: Stewart, Griffiths, Sosa, Cardenas, Gagel, Mueller, Bradley (Ft. Lewis) and Coleman, Dewald and Jackson from ODS (the were out of Bindlach)
