What years were you assigned to the 2nd Cavalry?
November, 1964 till August, 1966
Tell us a little about your cav days.
Went to Hof once with A troop as clerk. Spent most of time in office in Headquarters behind desk. Set up officers duty roosters (they hated that as was supposed to be by CO and they knew I did it and were afraid to complain). Wrote and printed all corresondence from post commander (Lt. Col Redding, I think, Memory not real good anymore) Living on post had to had passes to get off base. I always had extra from CO I controlled so so got along good with mot troops. Good times.
Tell us a little about you now.
Retired from Landers Dodge as a service manager. COPD from all those cheap cigarettes. Married for 44 years with 3 kids, all well. Still stay in contact with a couple of friends from that era; Mark Israel from personnel now in Chicago area and Robert Sobkow, banker in Philadelphia. Mark came down to Bossier City end of last summer and visited for a few days with wife. Old times were good. Anyone remember an old group we started we called "the commandoes"? Kaiser thought we were trying to overthrow the Army and we were just having fun.
Name a few buddies you served with that you would like to find.
Any member of our group we called "the commandoes"

Hey James, we were ALL commandos back in the day, my brother. Ask any of the guys in the old timers group!
You wouldn't recognize Christiansen Barracks any more. It is a little town now, Bindlachberg. Not many of the old buildings left, but HQ is still there. It's a retirement home now!
I was there ten years before you with my dad in 1954, and ten years after on my own in 1974.
Welcome home Trooper.
