Tell us a little about your cav days.
I was sent to Ft. Polk and to the 2 ACR. When I got first got there, JRTC was just being set up. I was first assigned to HHT 2 ACR (Regiment). I spent about a year and a half there and then they assigned me to HHT 2nd squadron. By that time, JRTC was fully operational and we spent about every other month in the field supporting whichever unit was there training. I was a wrecker operator and pulled out more stuck HMMWVs than I can count.
Tell us a little about you now.
I currently work in the IT department at Chrysler

Welcome to Dragoon Base Wolfe-Man!
My dad was a 2ACR mechanic also....Motors Officer with HHC 1/2, 1953-55 (they were called companies and battalions back then instead of troops and squadrons), Bindlach/Bayreuth, Germany. I was in Bindlach with C Troop 1974-75. Spent my first and twenty-first birthdays there.
The Regiment was here at Fort Lewis for a year in 1992 when they left Germany, but I missed them (I live in Tacoma). My old C Troop commander, Tom Molino, was commanding the Regiment. The Regiment was transitioned and reflagged from units of the 199th Light Infantry Brigade, and redesignated 2d Armored Cavalry (Light). This is when the Regiment had to trade it's M-1's for HMMWV's. That's when they went to Ft Polk and the JRTC.
They were up here one more time in 2005-06, transitioning and reflagging again. This time they were transitioned to a Stryker brigade. 2d Armored Cavalry was reflagged 4th Brigade, 2d Infantry Division and transitioned to a Stryker Brigade Combat Team. At the same time 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division, which was already a Stryker unit, was reflagged 2d Stryker Cavalry Regiment. 2SCR was then sent to Vilseck, Germany where they are home based. They have been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan since being in Vilseck, just returning from Afghanistan this past July.
Anyway, hope you can hook up with some of your old buddies here. It is usually just a matter of time. If not, there are plenty of great Dragoons here to get to know.
