I can relate to the Trauma of Helicopter Crashes. I was at Binlach 1/2ACR THEN 1/59 in Wackerheim down the road from the Air Field. I had a friend their Maj Pitt that was last I saw a test pilot in Maint. Good Luck with the PTSD Counseling Program, it is important work.

Welcome to Dragoon Base, Kenneth. Make yourself at home. Your among the best bunch of guys you can find.

Glad to hear you are doing something about the PTSD. I carried crap around with me for almost 30 years before finally getting help. Been a long, rough road, brother, but we're both still here!

Cobra Instructor Pilot and Instrument Flight Examiner

    What was your rank/title?

    CW3

What years were you assigned to the 2nd Cavalry?

    1990 - 1992

Tell us a little about your cav days.

Not the best of memories. Got fired from Ramrod Troop and was reassigned to Nomad. Had two great Captains in Nomad - Kendrick and Brian Haddle. Served with my best friend John Winn (now deceased) whom I'd gone to flight school with and we were in the instructor's course together. I loved the guys in Ramrod - I was fighting demons then (and still do) from being the first responder to an OH58 crash in Giebelstadt. The AH1 crashes in the dessert messed me up a little more and no one really know it had gotten into my head.

Tell us a little about you now.

Retired in 1996. Last duty station was Ft Bragg. I worked for then Major, now retired BG Kelly Thomas. Ran into (then) LTC John Mac Donald and Col Ken Pankey. Living in San Antonio Texas. Nearly finished with a doctorate in Theology, finished my MS in Professional counseling just prior to retirement. John Winn passed within weeks of my mom passing. I got into a really bad place that was nearly a show-ender for me too. I am now using my past (and sometimes present) stress responses as a jumping off point to minister to PTSD victims and help myself in the process.

    Phone number (Optional).
