       we very probably WERE the baddest, A buddy of mine that was with 10th Spec Forces said that E Germans they interviewed always said it was the 2d ACR that kept awake nights not Black Horse.

      The training has gotten even more intense, Kirk. I wonder why those troopers in Vilseck even have barracks, because they are always out in the field somewhere. Recently there were troopers deployed in a dozen countries from Estonia to Saudi Arabia, training with soldiers from other countries, and 2d Cav's 3d Squadron conducted an 1100 mile road march from Estonia through Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, the Czech Republic, and back to Germany showing support for the former eastern bloc countries against Russia's recent aggression.

    What unit(s) did you serve in with the 2d Cavalry?

    Third Herd in Fox Troop, The S-2, SOC, and BOC in Headhunter


    Where were you stationed?

    Bamberg, then permanent party at Camp Harris


    What MOS or job description did you have?

    19K and 96B. I was a tanker in Fox, an intelligence analyst and security NCO in the S-2, and the NCOIC of first the SOC, then the BOC.


    What was your rank/title?

    SP4 and SGT


    What years were you assigned to the 2nd Cavalry?

    1985-1990


    Tell us a little about your cav days.

    Looking back on it, at the time we very probably WERE the baddest mothther******s on the planet. We were ALWAYS training, and had more organic firepower than any unit of our size.
