I visited Camp May last year when I went over. The German Polizei were using it for training.
2d Cav is at Rose Barracks in Vilseck now. Been there since 2006 with two deployments to Iraq and one to Afghanistan. They are going back to Afghanistan next summer also.
I was also in an ADA unit for a minute before going to the 2d Cav...a Hawk missile unit in Hanau.
Not much more of Pond Barracks than this monument. The mess hall and two of the barracks are left. The mess hall is a restaurant and the barracks have been turned into housing.
After the Germans reclaimed Pond Barracks in 1992 they turned it into an asylum for a short time. Popular belief is that it was an asylum long before that.

Hey Luke,
What years were you in Amberg? Quite a few guys around here that also served at Pond Barracks (but not me). I visited there in 2011 and the kaserne is gone.
Might want to check out the oldtimers group. Lots of Amberg guys there, and even a couple from Arizona.
