Tell us a little about your cav days.

Had orders for Viet Nam on finishing Tower School but received orders to report to Fort Dix for assignment to Germany while at home on leave. I was assigned to 3rd ACR as a Scout vehicle, M114, driver for my first 3 weeks in Germany because they had no aviation section at all. I was finally assigned to 2nd ACR the day Feucht AAF was opened. Specialists Keifer, Gay and Haywood were already there keeping the tower open 24 hours a day 7 days a week when I got there. We lived at the airfield in the fireman's quarters for a while then moved to some vacant rooms in the tower. We ate at Moorenbrunn Haus that came to be known as the Jump CP by Air Troop Headquarters staff and Operations personnel because of all the meetings held there. When not working in the tower or in operations I flew as an observer on boarder patrols in the OH-13, UH-1B, O1A Bird dogs. I got almost as much flight time as some of the crew chiefs. Buddies I remember are Sargent Darcey, Kakita, Kiefer, WO1 Doughty.

Tell us a little about you now.

I retired from the FAA in 2005 after 37 years as an air traffic controller and computer operator, and now live in the Alaskan woods with wife my wife of 38 years, that I met in Germany, 4 dogs, 4 goats and a cat.

Name a few buddies you served with that you would like to find.

Chet Hayes, Keifer, Kakita, Mr. Doughty, Mr. Stokes, Mr. Griggs.
