Tell us a little about you now.
Prior to retiring, I was on orders for 8th PERSCOM Seoul Korea. Unfortunately, I was forced to retire from military service due to medical issues that have since placed me on the total disabled rankings of the VA system. However, I am married and have a teenage daughter who will soon graduate from high school and pursue a career as a teacher for special needs children. With God’s blessing, I hope to be around to see my daughter graduate and start a life of her own.

I've tossed out the idea for an NCO Club, but nobody has jumped on it yet. You're more than welcome to jump on it. If you start the club, you set the rules. You can have it open to anyone, or restrict it to invitation only, inviting only NCO's.
Let me know if you need some help.
"Tacoma Dave"
Washington State National Guard 1930-38.
U.S. Army 1942-71
WW II 1944-47 (Occupation duty in Germany/Austria also); Korea 1950-51, Germany 1953-56; Korea 1960-62; Germany 1963-65; Vietnam 1966-67; Panama 1968; Thailand 1969-70. That was just the overseas assignments!
Robb Russell started this site so a few of the old Dragoon Base members kicked in and we started all over again. Blossomed pretty well in the last year!
On battling the VA, took me about 27 years to get my 100%. Social Security Disability is even tougher. Still can't get it.
Sorry I missed you guys when you were out here at Ft. Lewis. Was Tom Molino Regimental Commander then? He and Pete Schoomaker were my old C Troop CO's. Tom just stepped down recently after serving several years as President of the 2d Cavalry Association. Pete went on to command Delta Force, and later President Bush brought him out of retirement to be Chief of Staff of the Army.
The regiment was back here at Ft. Lewis again briefly from 2005-06, and I got to visit the museum a few times.
Here's my dad Hank, all five foot zero inches of him, taken at the Camp Perry National Rifle Matches in 1931 (he took 1st in 1935 NG division), and again in about 1967.
When the 2d Infantry lost all it's records in Pyongyang, North Korea, winter 1950, because the Chinese ran them out most hastily, the military used dad's copies to reconstruct his files. Those files have been a window to a life-long military career he never brought home with him, and helped me get to know a man I rarely saw when growing up.
Sounds like your career ended like my dad's. They booted him after 37 years on a medical discharge, then he had to fight the VA for his 100%.
