What unit(s) did you serve in with the 2d Cavalry?
I didn't serve in the 2nd ACR. I did serve in 2nd Sqdn, 3rd ACR, 1980-83. I am an amateur military historian specializing in U.S. Army armor and cavalry units, so I hope you will let me join your website.
Where were you stationed?
Fort Bliss, TX
What MOS or job description did you have?
MOS was 12C. In order, I was: Platoon Leader, 2nd Plt, E Trp, 2/3 ACR; S-3 Air, 2/3 ACR; and XO, G Trp, 2/3 ACR
What was your rank/title?
I was a 2LT when I got to the 3rd Cav and a CPT when I left.
What years were you assigned to the 2nd Cavalry?
As noted above, I did not serve in the 2nd ACR. I was in 2/3 ACR, 1980-83.
Tell us a little about your cav days.
When I got to the 3rd ACR in 1980 they had recently replaced their M-551's and M-114's with M-60A1's and M-113's. We turned a lot of the M-114's into small piles of shredded metal on the tank ranges. The only two really good bosses I have ever had were two of my Army bosses, the S-3 when I was the S-3 Air and my troop commander when I was an XO.
Tell us a little about you now.
I'm a lawyer with the State Department in Washington, DC. I'm married with one son, age 11. I collect military insignia and do military history research/writing in my spare time -- what little bit I have.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY THOMAS
Wishing you many more, from all of us at DragoonBase!!!
I caught wind a couple months back that 3ACR is looking to revive their veterans association. If you weren't so busy I'm sure they could use a good lawyer to help with the paperwork needed to incorporate.
Did you say history? Very pleased to meet you, sir. I put together the 2d Cavalry Association's Regimental history website, and try to cram as much history down these guys throats as they can digest. You are more than welcome to browse the area. The history site is at http://history.dragoons.org/
