      Troy,

I don't know you but, I'll bet I'm related to you. There are very few Allee families in the US, and we have common ancestry. I have a friend that is from MO. One of her grade school teachers was a Dale Allee; any relation to you? I'm originally from Oskaloosa, IA.

I was stationed in Amberg, and was in L Troop from '72 to '74. I've been to the "Wall" in Nurnberg many a time - hoo ha! I've also been back to Amberg, and Nurnberg twice since I got out of the Army. Beautiful as ever but most of the small breweries in Amberg were gone; there were 13 at one time. I went to the '74 Munchen Oktoberfest. There were a lot of drunken, American college girls there doing very naughty things... We saw Led Zeppelin in Nurnburg, Joe Cocker in Wurzberg, and, saw a lot of other great bands of the day. One of my brothers was stationed in Neu Ulm from the mid to late '80s.

Do you know about the ancestral Allee House in Bombay Hook, Delaware? It shows up on any good atlas. Art Allee, a distant relative, wrote a book about the Allee family before he died. I spoke with Art, on the phone, one time for over an hour. Art, who was a Professor Emeritus, University of Houston, told me that he researched the Allee family for years. Art said he was able to trace the family back to 1250. The family originates in L'Artois, France. Art said he travelled to L'Artois three times but wasn't quite able to make the connection that would have dated the Allee (original Flemish spelling: d'ally) family to the year 1000. Art also told me that our ancestors were nobility (that and a dollar will buy you a glass of beer).

This is probably more than you wanted to know (or already know). This info, and more, is all over the internet; take a peek if you haven't already. Just wanted to say hi. Toujours Pret and FTA!

      Toujours Pret Troy,
Welcome to the new DragoonBase, the site has plenty of newer features, lots of sub-groups,(ie,F-Trp,Amberg,Medics,etc.) and links for 2nd Cav News and History.
Robb Russell has posted some tips for navigating the site(ie,photos, ect) in the Forum.
And his only wish that ‘We keep it clean’, use our real names/with pictures, and you tell all your friends about the new DragoonBase.

      Thanks Again for joining,
      Jesse Kelley
