I was initially stationed in Nuremberg at Merrell Barracks upon arriving in Germany. I was attached to a field medical unit. My time there was uneventful, spent most of m time repairing stretchers and sanding strecher handles. If someone knows which unit that was please advise. My 2nd duty station was in Bamberg with the 2nd Recon Sqd - 2nd Armd Cav.. Hdq Troop. Along with my buds we staffed the aide station and provided medical support to the troops of the 2nd AC. We also provided the same support to the troops rotating up to the boarder in Colberg.

I have a copy of my orders from Fort Sam Houston dated 18 June 1965. The following names being sent to the 3rd Armored Medical Company. Me, you, Robert Anderson, Richard Bellavance, Richard Carroccetto, George Frank, Lavern Lowe, Herman Smith, Robert Still. We were in the 3rd AMC assigned to the 2nd Armored Cav, and had the 7th Army patch. We left New York on the USS Geiger. The other orders that sent you to Bamberg with Johnny Blunkall, Nelson Grando, Tommy Hughes, Anthony Martinez, Michael Regal, Ronald Pruyt, Francis Larkin, Lavern Lowe,Jerry St Martin. We were on the bottom floor at Merrell Barracks, I think they disbanded the 3rd Armored Medical Co, and that's why we were only there for such a short time. Do you remember we had an alert the first night we were at Merrell.
Just read your profile, I was a medic at Merrill Barracks in 1965 assigned to the 3rd Armored Medical Company at the same time you where there. I have a copy of my orders dated 16 Aug 1965 with your name on it. I was being sent to Amberg, you and nine others to Bamberg. It's a small world...
