      Hi Charles,

Welcome to Dragoon Base. I served with the 3rd Squadron, in Amberg, HQ Trp, from Feb 66 to Aug 15, 1968. The event, the Russian Invasion of Czechoslovakia, happened shortly after I left the Squadron. I was home on leave, before reporting to Ft Monmouth, NJ for Signal School. I can imagine the "Pucker Factor" of our guys when the fog lifted that morning and they saw the Russian Tanks lined up on the other side of the Border.

From what I heard and read about it, the Czech's were on the verge of Revolt and the USSR stomped on them before it could get going. Russia feared another uprising like the Hungarian one in 1956...or something close to that.

      Hope this helps you.
