Welcome to Dragoon Base, Dave. I just picked up Jack and Ed's book recently but haven't gotten a chance to read any of it. Probably take it with me on the flight to the reunion in October.

I see you are just south of me. I'm up here in Washington. Good to see another prospect for our Northwest Connection group.

Make yourself at home. If you have any questions, give me a holler.

Tell us a little about your cav days.

Upon arrival, I thought it was the edge of the earth as I arrived with 7 other guys late at night. Being in country only a day or two, it was quite a change, culture, language, landscape, etc. Pond Barracks, Amberg was home, though. We were so young. Bonding with your room and work mates came quickly. There were too many characters that came and went to describe all the crazy stories that are held in my fondest memories. Traveling all over Europe, weekend castle hunts, many hours in local Gesthaus breweries, GERMAN BIER, the Russian invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968, monthly alerts late at night . . . well, just read Jack & Ed's book . . ."What Did You Do In the Cold War Daddy". I did a of growing up in 3 years, trust me, I needed it. The single best part is the guys . . . brothers, really, that I now have. Too young to be afraid of the 'what if's', the 20 yr old 'bullet proof' syndrome and too young to really appreciate in the moment, how very special that time was.

Tell us a little about you now.

I'm married to my high school sweetheart with whom i reunited after 35 years and married in 2007. I have 5 children ranging in age from 19-38 and my wife and I share our house with 3 cats. As Senior sales representative for Donnelly Metals, Inc., I am a metals broker - have worked in this field for 40 years. I have been a musician since before my Army days and have played, with some breaks, since age 15 until the present. Two of the groups I've played with have had songs that made the Billboard top 100 national charts, one in the 60's and again in the 80's. I now play just for fun and because I like to perform. We moved in 2013 from Kansas City, MO to a village of 700 residents on the Oregon Coast. I work from home with a direct view of the Pacific Ocean out my window. I found a "kindred musical spirit" here and we play music at local eateries. I play guitar and piano and our repertoire consists of music from the 50's to the 90's - we call it "the soundtrack of your life". Life is good!
