Nelson, glad to hear from you. welcome back. I know the feeling of not getting around and remembering. All of the years have come and gone by the way side. Old age has creep up on me memory wise plus being stuck in this wheel chair for the last 12 years now. I spent some good years in the military, some four there in Amberg. 4 tours in Germany.
You take good care of yourself and the family.
Hello Nelson. Another year passes. I hope the past year has been good to you. Happy Birthday! Check in, if only to say hello.
Nelson, when did you arrive in Amberg? I was in amberg two tours with I troop. departed August 1964 I like yourself am totally handicap in a wheel chair. I retired 1 Jan 1969 after 21 years and 6 days.
No problem, Big Wheat. I'm always around.
Tacoma Dave
Ditto, Nelson. Hang in there, Brother. If you need to talk, give me a holler. I'm also dealing with PTSD.
Jack, your book is available on Kindle also. I just got it. I'm enjoying it so far. Lots of similarities etween 1968 and 1978 - although the M114's were now hard targets in the maneuver area. Used to "liberate" their pintles and mount them on my M113's for additional attachment points. :)
Nelson, you'll have to tell me about all the pleasures of Pitman, I missed that. You don't need to do anything, just send me an email with the address where you want me to send the book. I'll sign it, send up to Ed for his signature and Ed can forward to you, my email is jrtbjy@gmail.com. Our group has luckily stayed in touch all these yearsand we gotten together a couple of times in the past few years. I believe Dave Cowden is working on his pictures as well, so there may be many more to see. I have a picture of the whole outfit posted on my page, if you want to take a look. Thanks, Jack
Nelson, I saw the posts on your tour in Germany, and I saw where Ed Paquette had commented, Ed and I were Stationed in Amberg in 67-69, we wrote a book on our experiences there What Did You Do In The Cold War, Daddy?. If would like to read it, I'll be glad to send you one. We were assigned to the Personnel Section there, and we really enjoyed our all expense paid tour of Europe. Have some pics, but I will have to get them scanned in to post. Anyway, just let me know, I'm sure Ed might know some of the people who were there when you were.
