HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Here's hoping I get to toast many more!!
You have me at a disadvantage, Frank. I don't recall saying that. 1952-55 would have been the 7th Army patch on the shoulder. Not sure if they were wearing the 2d Cavalry pocket patch (on fatigues) at the time.
The border patch I believe was after my time. I was there 1974-75.
Frank,
Send me your e-mail address to wedtx@aol.com, I'll send it to you it is a full page. He looks like you described, tall thin and dark hair. Could be the same one. It is a photo of him and reberry plus a photo of the Squadron Staff.
FRANK,
LTC Delaney took over from LTC Gerald V. Reberry in August 1962. Reberry was CO from Aug61 - Aug 62. I left the Sqd in June 64 and retired 1 Jan 69, after I returned to Germany for another tour from 67- Dec 68 and retired at Fort Hamilton. Would you reconize Delaney, I have a photo of him I'll try to scan a copy of him and send it to you.
FRANK,
I was in the third Squadron I Troop , Amber for two tours. Not for sure if it is the same Delaney, but we had a Squadron Commander either in 62 or 63 the photo is in the 62-63 reunion book from the 2nd A/C. I was there from 59-61 and 62-64. Old G co till they changed the units in 60 or 61 to troops. It was LTC William M. Delaney.
Yes I was in G co. at that time. I do remember Capt McCollough.Sargent Bill East from H co was my best frind.
Master Sgt. Jim Pope was my Platune leader,I remember Sargent Coutch
We were on minovers when a tank retver turnd over and killed severl, I think the ones name ws McDounald.
I have been trying to find some on at the same time i was there, You are thi first one to answer. Its been sixty years and it is hard to remember
Andrew T Hirsch
Joe, I do not remember a place called Paradice in my time in Amberg, and M Company was the heavy tank company. There was also K Troop I Troop and L Troop and the rest of our support groups I am not sure when M company came to be, we had the M60A1's and the the line Troops had the Sheridans and when they fazed the Sheridan out of service everyone got the M60's. My time was from 1978 until 1980 I am sure the bier was still as good as it was from your time.
Good to hear from you Frank. Glad you finally tracked us down. You have a lot of catching up to do!
Hi Frank,
My dad was up north of you in Bindlach with 1st Battalion from 1953 to 1955. He transferred out before the unit Gyroscoped to Ft. Meade and we stayed in Germany.
I saw your message about the Honorary Squadron. Andrew Hirsch was inducted just a few days after you on 16 April 1956. He joined G Company in September 1953, the same time my dad joined HHC, 1st Battalion.
