The main unit came by sea in February ..... I remember our trip as the longest plane ride I ever made. Originally we were to fly from Gander to Ireland, but the pilot came on the air as we got near the Irish coast and announced that we had had such good tail winds and so much fuel left we were going straight on to Frankfurt.

I knew George well ...... we went to Paris on leave together in 1958 .... he, Phil Painter and Sherrill ?. George was not commo, I think he was intell, but I'm not sure. He worked down the hall from you in the headquarters bldg.

Have not attended any reunions .... have you ?

      Charlie

Harden's name is familiar but I can't place the face.

We (the commo group) had our message center in the basement of that building when we first got there. Then we moved across the way to corner of the barracks facing the PX .... we were next to the medics and around the corner and down the hall from where we bunked. It was a good move as we did not have to go outside except to deliver messages.

I was in communications ..... as a cryptographer. I got to Merrill Barracks early December 1957 (after completing basic and crypto training at Ft. Meade) ... the 3rd was still there, I was in the advance cadre for the 2nd ..... shipped out July 1959 ..... mustered out at Ft. Dix, NJ a few weeks later.

      Hi Irv,
I think you and I are the only ones from our group at Nurnberg in here.

      Toujours Pret Irv,
Welcome to the new DragoonBase, the new Base has plenty of newer features, lots of sub-groups,(ie,F-Trp,Amberg,Medics,etc.) and links for 2nd Cav News and History.
Robb Russell has posted some tips for navigating the site (ie,photos, links, ect) in the Forum.
If you need any help, you can contact Robb, or myself, or just yell out, another member may be able to help you.
And our only wish, ‘Keep it clean’, use our Real names/with Pictures(pix from back in the day, work best for searching for Brothers, but any picture will do).
And that you please tell all your friends about the new DragoonBase.

Thanks Again for joining Dragoon Base, and for your service to our great country,
      Jesse Kelley
