Hey Jack, I'm an L Troop "tanker" as well.  Although I got there a couple of years after you left, it was still the same crazy shit.  A month or two in squadron then back to the border or Graf, it never changed.  It might have been a little more tense when I was there because I arrived 6 months after Kennedy was assassinated (we still though the Commie's were involved), and I left a year before the Russians invaded Czechoslovakia.  Never-the-less great memories!

JACK, your name still rings a bell with me, you still might know some of the men from I Troop, who was the CO in L troop.. I am going to have to dig up photos and see if you might reconize some of my troop.

Hello Jack, Wayne Dixon here, was Scout Section in 1st Platoon, Was old G company before they changed us over to I Troop.  We have another in the 2nd cav Assogiation, Ned Deveraux, he is the Edititor of the Therobred.  I just wrote to Lt Moe Winters just 2 days ago.  Do you remember him and also one of our CO's Captain Bill Wollenberg.  I am still tring to place you.  Do you recall the sgt that was caught in between the track vehicles at Gates who was killed there . He and I where good friends.  Also the sgt who was in amberg and was killed when he was on the way back to weiden from Amberg.  I sure would love to see your slides and photos so I could try to remember them.  You don't happen to have a copy of the troop roster do you.  Welcome aboard.

      Welcome Jack,

You're the second one in the last 30 minutes to join from that time period.  I got there in '62, left '64.  Come on over and join us in the Oldtimers.  Many here...might see an old name or face.  Any questions, just ask and somebody will help.

Tell us a little about your cav days.

Arrived in Amberg in 1959, spent time at Camp Gates and Weiden as a radio operator and some border patrol. Can't remember OP but it was a small, tower of some medieval castle. Remember big party at Camp Gates where the whole town of Brande was invited for bar-b-q and lots of beer drinking (still have the Brande beer stein. Everything got out of hand, Headquarters found out, Co Commander got relieved and many lost their strips. Looking back it was funny as hell.

Tell us a little about you now.

Retired from a long, rewarding career as a landscape architect in the San Francisco bay area.

Name a few buddies you served with that you would like to find.

    Fritz or Sig Hepp
