I lived on base in Bindlach from1965 through1969, my father was USAF stationed nearby. I went to the elementary school and remember Herr Paulik well. I also remember the AYA, the Cliffs, hedgehogs and bingo at the NCO. I'd love to hear from anyone else that was there during that time.

Hi Jane,
I believe we were in class together! I was at Bindlach the same time. I was looking for articles and pictures on the base closing and found the Christensen Barracks site with the comments posted. It was like taking a trip back to my childhood and remembering things I haven’t thought of for years. The hill by the boiler room, AYA, Saturday movies, and trading comics were all good memories. I am an Air Force Reserve officer with 45th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron at MacDill AFB; in 2003 I was deployed to Ramstein AB in support of OIF with the 491th Expeditionary Aeromedical Squadron. The whole time there I was hoping to take a trip back to the base but never got a chance.

Welcome to Dragoon Base Jane.
Your best bet would be to join our "Old Timers" group if you are looking for people from "The Rock" 1965-69. I was there 1954-55 with my dad, and 1974-75 on my own. Just visited there last July and there aren't many of the original buildings left. It is it's own community now (Bindlachberg).
