I'm in D.C. 1 to 4 MAR for a class at the Brookings Institution. I'm staying at the Army Navy Club downtown. Want to hook-up? Call me 804-691-6653 or email: timothy.durbin@us.army.mil
I do remember you, infact, I saw your name on the old msn web site and commented that back then I knew you as "Sir" since you were my Senior Rater at one time! I too had the best of memories from my days withthe 2nd ACR. I left Bamberg in 1988 after 3 years in 3-35 AR following my time at the Border, and FINALLY left Germany in 2002 after 22 years (13 military and 9 as a DoD civilian). I have lost contact with many, but have kept tabs on others, some you may remember - LT Frank Stearns (LTC - Retired) works at G-2 at the Pentagon. I think he was SBO after Lt Loretan.
LT (MAJ - Retired) Besore in a Contractor near Ft Belvoir. I worked for him when he was SBO. LT Lazaro got out but went back to active duty during Desert Storm and is still serving. He was with the ROAC unit in Bamberg when I left in 2002, but has since been to Ft Buchanan, and is now with SOCOM in Stuttgart.
I am not sure if you remember LT Bryan Roberts. I think he was in F Troop. He is still on active duty and currently working at G-8 at the Pentagon. I saw him on tv during the Super Bowl a couple of years ago, when they had the "Baghdad Bowl", he was the Brigade Commander with 1st Cav at the time. I ran in to him at the Home Depot in Woodbridge about 3 months ago, and it is funny how, after 25 years, we looked at each other and started talking like we left off in conversation the day before. I guess that is how the Army (read:Cavalry) is!
I currently work for the Family & Morale, Welfare and Recreation Command in Alexandria for MG Mcdonald (Q Troop 1988 - 1992) and COL Brick Miller (B Troop 1981-1984).
I was in Bamberg about a year ago, and it has changed somewhat. The wall around Warner II is gone, and the 173rd is currently in there while their barracks are being renovated in Vicenza.
Welcome to the new DragoonBase, the site has plenty of newer features, lots of sub-groups,(ie,F Trp,Amberg,CampHof,etc.) and links for History. Robb Russell has posted some tips for navigating the site(ie,photos, ect) in the Forum. And his only wish that ‘We keep it clean’, and you tell all your friends about the new DragoonBase.
Thanks Again for joining,
