My pleasure Karina. I wanted to get the names straight first.

In 2008 I got the chance to return to Germany to celebrate the 2d Cavalry returning to Vilseck from Iraq. After the ceremony a man found me and said someone was looking for me. It turned out to be the husband of the lady I helped to find her father three years earlier! We had a good cry and took a couple pictures together.

Well, since we don't have a name, a photo, or the troop/unit he was in, I see where it is going to be very hard. All we know is he was in Bindlach/Bayreuth around August 1977.

Is Benker your mothers maiden name or married name? Where did the last name Alexandra come from? Did your mother go by any other names back then?

If we post enough messages on this site with your mothers name on it, maybe someone will remember her. It's a long shot, but all I can think of now.

I will start a discussion in the Bindlach section and see what happens.

It would be great if you had a picture of him. That is how we found the other girls father. He was a black soldier and she didn't even know his name, but we found him and she was able to talk to him before he passed away.

      Hi Karina.

      Sorry for the bad joke.

I helped a gal in a similar situation find her father, but it was someone who was there at the same time as me. This made it easier to find him, because I recognized the photo she had and was able to find his name on the troop roster.

Post as much information as you can about the time period and everything else you know. Hopefully someone will have information.

Best of luck, and please make yourself at home.

      Dave

Good luck with your search, Karina.

I was there too long ago (1974-75), so count me out.
