Mr. Lay, I dont know if you remember me. I was in your platoon (3rd) in 1986 to who knows when. I would just like to thank you for the times back then. You were very hard, but with right. You gave me a lot of direction in my life at the time and I would just like to thank you for it.I have heard you are not doing so well and my prayers go out to you. John Wessely

    • Pete Salerno January 28, 2009 12:01
Top, Duane is absolutely right. We will execute a thunder run to Radcliff if necessary and it won't be pretty. I will continue to try reaching you on the phone. And by the way, I am in my prime. Bring on the PT TEST! Cheers, Pete

I appreciate the kind words. I've been blessed in many ways and am very proud of my family.

You better plan on being there in April. If we have to show up with the entire platoon and carry you to Louisville, then that's what we'll do. I can't wait to see these guys again and catch up. Don't plan any surprise PT test or anything either, doesn't look like most of us guys are in the shape we were back when we were in our late teens or early 20s.

You take care and I'll see you in a couple of months.

      Your faithful friend and trooper,
      Duane

I don't know if you remember me (I was in 2d platoon), but I sure remember your PT sessions! We used to groan, but I never ran the 2 miles faster than I did after you got to the Troop. Hope all's well with you and yours. Always ready, always first! Howell

I can still remember the first time you spoke to me in Jan of 1987. We were getting our cold wether gear and you walked up to me and asked me if I knew how to secure a radio with a "Y" cable. I had no idea what you were talking about and you told me I had about 15 minutes to find out. I scrambled around for about 10 minutes to find out and reported back with the correct answer. From that day on I knew you would be the type of NCO I would try to become.
There are other moments about my time on The Rock I hope to share with you at the Reunion.
