Tell us a little about your cav days.
I arrived in February 2013 with my wife and year old son, and moved into the Plans Section at Regiment, helping to plan for the pending deployment to Afghanistan. During that deployment I went from planning for the downsizing of the American footprint to heading the infamous CAB-T Route Clearance design adopted by GEN Milley. I assumed command of Bull Troop shortly after redeployment, and also welcomed our first daughter into the world. We enjoyed a successful LFX with the German 10th Panzers (Operation Angry Lion 2015), as well as an amazing success against the Hohenfels OPFOR during Saber Junction 2015. I then assumed command of HHT for 1st Squadron's deployment to Egypt for the Multinational Forces and Observer mission from 2015-2016. After redeployment, I signed the regimental logs and PCSed.
Tell us a little about you now.
After 2CR, I spent two years as an OC/T at Fort Irwin (a lot more fun than everyone thinks). The family strain became too much and I left active duty for the private sector in 2018. However, I stayed on with the National Guard. In 2019 I pinned Major and in 2020 deployed to Kosovo with the Iowa National Guard. In 2022, I had an opportunity to serve closer to home and joined the Nebraska National Guard as a Battalion XO for 2-134th IN BN (ABN), where I still serve. Along the way we welcomed our second daughter (2020) and second son (2022). We also bought a 20-acre homestead, where we raise dozens of chickens, and the odd goat, horse, dog, cat, and/or cow.
