Tell us a little about your cav days.
I didn't know it at the time, but my assignment to A-Troop, 2-ACR was the bedrock/foundation for my time in the military. I was asked to extend my tour but being young & dumb and this being my first assignment, I followed my assignment orders. But my great training was reflected in my next assignment at Ft. Stewart where I received the results from my SQT which was 100% and led to being hand-picked from the Replacement detach. to a Brigade HQ and later a trip to BNCOC where I was an Honor Grad. and selected by the BNCOC Course director to be an instructor- all because of what I learned as a Scout in the 1/2 CR!
I did re-enlist and became a 26Q at the time which was tactical satellite operator. I reached the pinnacle with a promotion to MSG first year of eligibility in the Secondary Zone... I have no doubt I would have been promoted SGM/CSM if I hadn't become sick and retired.
Tell us a little about you now.
I retired after 22 years as a First Sergeant; then just recently retired from the United States Postal Service after 22 years. I retired early as I have some battle damage from the war because of the burn pits/environmental/oil wells....whatever...etc...anyway I have complications from COPD and have emphysema and chronic bronchitis....I'm at Stage 4, end stage but probably have 10-12 years left.
