What unit(s) did you serve in with the 2d Cavalry?
My father was Sergeant E-5 Joe C. Hernandez RA 25 856 650. He served with Troop K, 3rd Recon Squadron, 2nd Armored Calvalry from May 1965 to april 1966.
Where were you stationed?
I know he was stationed at one time in Fort Hood, Texas. I'm unaware of others.
What MOS or job description did you have?
I'm unclear about this.
What was your rank/title?
Sergeant E-5
What years were you assigned to the 2nd Cavalry?
1965-1966
Tell us a little about you now.
I am seeking information about my father's time in the military. I was 9 months old when he passed. He was already out of the service by that time, I believe. I came across a letter of Commendation that he received from his platoon leader during his time with Troop K. His name was Reynald M. Swift, 2nd Lt, Armor, at the time...
Name a few buddies you served with that you would like to find.
Unfortunately, I do not know of anyone he served with.

As a relative, it may be possible to obtain a copy of your dad's military records.
You might want to leave a message with Edward Voke, a member of the Oldtimers. He was an Officer in K Troop during the time you mention. Unfortunately, 50 years have passed and recollections get very vague.
Lt Swift was from New Jersey.. I served with him Amberg.. I was there from 64- 67.. I am sorry tho i don't remember your father
I left Amberg in August of 1964. I had several friends from K Troop who would have been there at the same time as your dad. There is a picture on my page of two of them. Burns is on the left. I don't remember the other's name. I'm sorry that's all I can offer. I know there are others here that were there during your dad's tour. Hopefully they can provide more than I can.
Welcome to Dragoon Base, Ruby. Your dad would have been stationed at Pond Barracks, Amberg, Germany, as that is where 3d Squadron was headquartered at during that period.
