Tell us a little about your cav days.
My father, Sergeant James Robert Morton, served with A Troop, 1st Squadron, 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, at Christensen Barracks in Bindlach, West Germany, during the late 1960s. He was an infantryman and also performed Unit Police duties. I have original photographs from his service showing him alongside fellow soldiers, including Gilberto Presas. My father passed away in January 1975, and I am trying to reconstruct his military history and identify the men who served with him.
Tell us a little about you now.
My name is Shawn Morton, and I live in Virginia. I am the son of Sergeant James Robert Morton. I have spent many years researching my father's military career, including his Vietnam service with the 101st Airborne Division and his assignment with the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment in Germany. I hope to connect with veterans who remember him and possibly discover additional photographs, stories, or records from his time with A Troop.
