Hi Walter, I spent several tours on the Border with Radar and went on several patrols during my time at the Rock...I also drove the S-2 Officer to the camps to pull Alerts, which I'm sure everyone remembers...........

Hi Walter, I to was at the Rock and I was in the S-2 Section, I rotated back to the states in June of 1970... If they put you as a clerk in the S-2 section  you should have known Sgt Rick Baltes because he was one of the clerks when I left.... There was a SFC George Wheaton there also along with a SFC Murphy, I believe there was a Capt. Barns, there too.  There have been a Sgt Allen also........

    HHT, 1st Squadron

    Where were you stationed?

    Christensen Barracks, Binclach, FRG

What MOS or job description did you have?

11E but since I could type I was put in S-2 as a clerk.

    What was your rank/title?

    SSG

What years were you assigned to the 2nd Cavalry?

    1970-1972

Tell us a little about your cav days.

Arrived in Bindlach about 3 a.m. tired as a dog. There were 7 or 8 of us at the time. We were lined up and the DO asked if anyone could type. I raised my hand and he said "You're the new S-2 clerk." Hell, I had no idea was S-2 was. Ended up staying there with a great MSG-Jon V. Eisman. Took me under his wing and showed me the ins and outs of things. Went back to the U.S., got married and brought my wife back. We lived in Bayreuth until my discharge.

Tell us a little about you now.

Re-enlisted after I couldn't find a job when I got back to Delaware, OH. Wanted to go back to Germany so went to the Defense Language Institute in CA to learn German. After a year of training I ended up at Fort Riley, KS!!!!!

Name a few buddies you served with that you would like to find.

Mark T. LaCosse Robert Carr Richard Cunningham
