Spent our last birthday (July 27, 2011) with the Regiment in Vilseck, Germany, at the Regimental change of command. They also had three Squadron change of commands that day and inactivated 8th Squadron (Rear Detachment). It was a beautiful day!
Also got a private tour of the 2d Cavalry's museum archives. It's going to be a premier military museum when it opens next Spring. They had a re-dedication ceremony for the museum while I was there. The artifacts had been in storage since leaving Ft Lewis in the Fall of 2006.
