      Bill,

Been meaning to reach out to you on the occasion of my retirement from the Army (in 2012)... took me a while to find you!  Anyway, the ending of one's career often causes a lot of reflection of past assignments and experiences.  For Susan & I, our time at Bindlach has remained memorable, and for me, your leadership was especially so.  I've always wanted to send you that message and let you know!

      Bill,

This is Steve Oliver.  I was S1 under LTC George Rostine 1970 - 1971 and moved to S3 in 1972 with CPT. John Roseburg.  My wife, Sue and I lived in Fursetz about 12 miles from post.  Have you been in contact with others who served 1969 - 1972?

      Yes, sir, I am!

My daughter Alisha is a Navy 03 and is the Opns/Plans officer for the USS Momsen, DDG 92, a destroyer based in Everett, WA.  They are departing during that period for a multi-month tour in the Middle East.  My wife and I are going out for an early Thanksgiving and send off with my wifes kin who live in Seattle.  Will be last we see of her for a long time.

Bill do you remember the E-4 Acting Sgt that was the Supply Sgt/ Unit Armor while you were the Company Commander. I got to B Troop in Jan 1970 and left in Dec 1972 as a E-5 Sgt.                SSG Lawrence S. Snow Retired Army (my nickname was DUSTY).

Bill, The uncasing of the colors and re-dedication ceremony for the 20 fallen soldiers was a day of mixed emotions, I got there early enough to see all the Squadrons march in for the Regimental Formation. Only us us old war vetrans could really understand what we were actually seeing, first impression was the feeling of relief on their faces to be out of harms way; and the second and most lasting impression was the sadness on their faces when the fallen soldiers names were called off and the bugle played taps.
