Capt. Davidson spent roughly almost five months in the hospital at Nurnburg and then they reassigned him to a desk job at regiment. I usually made a run up there about once every two weeks and made it a point of stopping in to check on him, drop off magazines, etc., then would stop in at regiment after he was released from the hospital. I saw him a week before I ETS'd out. They gave me a going away party the night before I left; we got kicked out of the barracks for playing kick-the-can in the hallway (100+ of us?); and I passed out after the third gausthaus. Woke up on the plance with two huge brandy bottles under each arm (empty) and a pair of black lace panties in my jacket pocket (?). Found out later they had flown me up to Frankfurt on a helicopter and sweet talked the Air Force into putting me on the plance because I was such a peaceful drunk..... Two weeks after I get home I discover they placed me on active reserves assigned to some special operations group outside of D.C.....
Yeah, that's right, you did leave from Vilseck. I spent roughly about two months in the new barracks then the Grafenwohr Provost Marshal asked to have me temporarily reassigned to the 536th MP Co. at Graf because he was short an Assistant Patrol Supervisor - he was my college night instructor - so I spent my last year up at Graf as an MP. Worst night was rolling for an accident call and finding out it was Capt. Davidson. He'd fallen alsleep at the wheel and hit a tree. Called in a chopper for him and rode all the way to Nurnburg with him. He had extensive injuries but did make it.
Yeah, as I matter of fact I was. Garnica and I ran together at Fort Lewis - he was in A Company and I was in Svc. Company. Angel Rameriz (also A Co.) used to run with us... up until he got married. Long story short - I met his new sister-in-law at the wedding (married) and we ended up slipping away to do the dirty deed - then I kinda sorta moved in with her for awhile - her husband was in the Air Force and in Italy. So that kinda killed the friendship with Angel - dude took it wayyyyyyyyyyyy too personal. I was the Training NCO for HWB in Amberg and drove for LT. Erbs when we went out in the field. Here's some other names: Rick Kaiser, Lt. Taylor, Lt Swartz, Alfred Tello... ring any bells?
I also happen to remember a card game one night in a tent with you, George Pintar, Sgt. "Dash Riprock" Henry, Dave Sanders, and Mosby. Good to see you're still alive and kicking Curt.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CURT
