Wishing you many more, from all of us at DragoonBase!!!
Please call me Bill. I'm sure you guys talked about the officers behind their backs, mentioned us by our first names in conversation and even called us bad names when out of range. Plus its been many years since we were in the Army.
Sounds like you have kept busy over the years. I am impressed with your talent to restore such musical instruments. Not that I don't think you couldn't do it, but if I had to guess what you would have done after you got out, it would have been a rep for a gun manufacturer. Bet it is rewarding to start with an old instrument and using your hands restore it again and see the smile of the owner when they picked it up and played it again. Do you play either of those instruments.
I have seen Zane Cooley and Craig Nida (scout pilot) since getting out. Not sure if you knew Craig or not. Really nice guy, loved to run. We thought he was nuts. My wife has a Facebook account and through Zane's accoount I found Rob Baumburger (scout pilot/Lt). He is doing well.
Looking through your list of folks you'd like to find again brings back lots of memories about each of them. Numerous times I have told my wife/friends that I've never worked anywhere that felt more like family than when we were in Germany. Lots of friendships and experiences that are priceless. One of my favorite memories surfaces each year and that was the "Mr. Keller's enlisted guys only Christmas lunch".
If your travels ever bring you to the orlando area let me know in advance. Would like to see you and if we ever get up there to the 'great white north' I'll get in touch with you.
Take care.
Welcome to the new DragoonBase, the new Base has plenty of newer features, lots of sub-groups,(ie,F-Trp,Amberg,Medics,etc.) and links for 2nd Cav News and History.
Robb Russell has posted some tips for navigating the site (ie,photos, links, ect) in the Forum.
Make sure you stop by and read the latest Tacoma Dave ‘Triva Quiz’, learn some 2nd Cav history and you can even win a kool prize.
If you need any help, you can contact Robb, or any of the 5 admins listed at the top of the page, or just yell out, another member may be able to help you.
And our only wish, ‘Keep it clean’, use our Real names/with Pictures(pix from back in the day, work best for searching for Brothers, but any picture will do).
And that you please tell all your friends about the new DragoonBase.
Thanks again for joining Dragoon Base, and for your service to our great country,
Jesse Kelley
